Template:Game-InfoboxSteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is the fifth game of the SteamWorld franchise. It is a turn-based RPG card game. It arrived on Nintendo Switch first on April 25th.

Plot

Some time before the events of SteamWorld Heist, Seabrass reads a bedtime story to his son Toby. The books's story is set a very long time ago and contains the plot of an heroic adventure that has been experienced by a colorful group of steambots.

Gameplay

Steamworld Quest once again steps away from prior SteamWorld game, and instead of being a 2D platformer or a turn-based shooter like previous titles, it is a card-based RPG.

With over 100 cards to collect, combat is performed with turn-based gameplay like a typical physical trading card game.

Playable Characters

There are five playable characters, each with different skills. The player will encounter them during the game.

Punch Cards

Punch cards are collectibles that can be aquired by proceeding the story, finding them in secret chests or crafting. They are used by playable characters and enemies during combat. Most punch cards can be upgraded.

Bestiary

The Bestiary contains information about any enemy has been encountered in the game. Players can unlock those entries automatically by defeating the enemies.

SteamWorld Quest has been digitally released on April 25, 2019 for Nintendo Switch.

The game was later physically released on November 14, 2019 with Super Rare Games as the publisher. Only 7,000 copies have been produced. The physical version of SteamWorld Quest includes a full-colour manual, a 3 card trading card pack and an exclusive sticker. Additional 3 card trading card packs can be purchased in order to complete the collection of 5 different cards in total.

On February 20th, 2020 SteamWorld Quest has been announced to release on Google Stadia together with SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Dig 2 and SteamWorld Heist on a later date. It was also announced that SteamWorld Dig 2 and SteamWorld Quest will be included in the subscription service Stadia Pro, which means that users of that service will not have to buy those two games additionally.

Ports

SteamWorld Quest has been digitally released on Steam on May 31, 2019. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Trivia

  • "SteamWorld Quest" was initially used as a red herring name for SteamWorld Dig 2, so when the European Union funding document featuring Dig 2 was released, the game's real identity wouldn't have been spoiled prior to its formal announcement.
